Cycle of Life + All Souls Day | Vancouver, Canada

Many cultures around the world celebrate those who have passed before us in this beautiful cycle of life. I was so lucky to have an invitation by Michele Davidson to 'A Night for All Souls' at the oldest cemetery in Vancouver, Mountain View. My time is often spent photographing the beginning of this cycle with weddings, babies & pregnant bellies. It was nice to complete the circle & photograph a celebration for those loved ones who have gone before us. I helped in the infant section of the cemetery where the amazing artist Haruko Okano handmade gorgeous cradles to hang in the trees. Visitors could leave messages, light a candle to their loved ones & tie them off the cradles. It was moving beyond words. The event was created by the cemetery's artist in residence, Paula Jardine. Artist installations were scattered throughout the cemetery with flowers, lanterns, candles, music, singing & feasts. It was a beautiful time of reflection, honouring & celebrating life.
